this is the second artwork from Beautiful Ghosts Around the World series.

Yuki Onna is a female snow demon from Japanese mythology. just as other folk stories, there are many different versions of the story. i based this illustration on the version where she would trap male travelers in snow storm, lure them, and kiss them. her kiss would freeze the victim to death.

the origin of Yuki Onna is confusing. on one version of the story, Yuki Onna was a young lady with an newborn baby boy, got kicked out of her village in the middle of a snow storm... i don't remember the reasons. her baby died out of cold, and she later did too. she then turns into a ghost, where she perpetually search on her baby boy, which is the reason why she lure male travelers. she thought they are her baby... a little bit of a stretch, huh?

anyways, this illustration is also featured on December 2005 UnitedVektor Kalendar. Check it out :D

Its very beautiful! I definitely get a ghostly feeling, even without reading the description! I like it a lot.

This is beautiful! I love the colour scheme.. very cold and uninviting :) The best part would be her eyes.. but the whole whole picture works wonderfully.. good job!

very pretty! I like the way things are apparent but subtle at the same time so you don't get too distracted by the details away from the main object.

thank you :D i wanted it to be decorative in a simple way (of that makes sense), so i guess it works this way.
